The 21st century has become overstimulated with the quest for many things in the shortest time, this is a plague that is affecting our society at this time and age and we have to do something about it before it drives us all to our early grave. Church, school, and the workplace have become an unending avenue for excessive competition with no safe haven as even families too are now affected. So where do people run to, how do they escape? And then we have social media and the entertainment industry, an escape route turned addiction, still eating and sucking so much out of people. It’s so sad but it’s also safe to say that we are all walking zombies at this moment, with no one really happy, just chasing and chasing, never having peace until the day they die. But I refuse to be under this spell and I want to drag as many as I can out of it. The end of time, we don’t know, though one video that I saw postulated that it is near because the signs in the Bible correspond with some things that are happening. So, even though the world may be coming to an end, I believe God’s children should have a chance to experience its richness before it’s all taken away. Though the activities of man have robbed most parts of its beauty because of his greed and selfishness, just as through one man sin came into the world and almost destroyed everything, through one man still, salvation came for all, all who believe. And so, I believe in the richness, joy, peace, and happiness that comes from being a child of God despite how society has even made the church a fast lane and a money-making machine. It’s so sad the reality is that most times I ask myself if I was supposed to be born in another era. But the truth of the matter is that every era faced its own plagues and had to come up with solutions, I guess it’s the circle of life. Life on its own is complicated but the knowledge of philosophy has helped me to understand that we can ask questions and question those answers until we arrive at an answer that is indivisible and use the knowledge for our daily lives. Every innovation and invention was indeed made to better people’s lives and proffer solutions to problems, to make things easier and faster, but how much easier and faster does man want life to get, is it until people don’t even have to blink that life will now be the easiest and fastest. The Industrial Revolution though came with solutions to many problems but I think it brought more problems with it, mental, emotional, and psychological problems. Imagine being a 5-year-old and you are already in Harvard, what do you now want to do with the rest of your life and how do you plan to get your childhood back, imagine being a superstar at 10 years old, how do you want to manage your mental health with strangers all up in your privacy. I can understand the quest for money and the suffering and struggle that comes when you lack it but if Christianity is really a safe haven, I don’t think this would have been a problem, because the Bible said that if God takes care of the trees, the birds and the grasses, how much more will he take care of you but then even in the church, people have been misled, they no longer seek God for their wealth because its like he is too slow and their needs are piling up faster than what he’s bringing to the table. Do you know how many offerings go on in churches nowadays, it’s really sad. Just to bring this up here as it just came to mind, do you remember that Abraham had his first son when he was over 90 years old, yes, I know you might be saying times have changed and quite frankly, but seriously if you really trust God, why the rush.
But the truth remains that we no longer have to be slaves of this era, we have to wake up and rise up, and we have to change our reality. We have to stop chasing what is not there, we have to steady our pace because slow and steady wins the race. To cap off, I just want to ask one final question. WHERE ARE YOU RUNNING TO?
