I was getting it wrong all these years…
I told God that I wanted to be really young and successful so that I could inspire my generation. But I did not realise what success actually meant and the weight of the cross that was needed to get me there.
I always saw success as the smiles, the applause, and the conversations that shape lives, but I never saw it as the efforts, the sweat, the humiliations, and the endurance, even when everyone is watching.
Being young and successful does not always have to mean cute outfits, cute pictures, and multiple speaking events (these are nice, but being successful is a lot deeper).
Being successful is failing and trying again, being successful is being alive and healthy, being successful is having family and friends that support the heaven out of you, being successful is being able to have choices, and being successful is being a child of God.
And while the cute outfits, cute pictures, and multiple speaking events may be nice, I know that I am already young and successful.
